The App Behind a Movement

Sunday, 17th March ’19.

Too Good To Go makes us all winners: App users get to try great food at a lower price. Food retailers reduce waste and find new customers. And everyone, helps cut down on food waste! What’s not to love?!

The Danish-born app was founded in 2016 and is now active in nine countries. In Denmark alone, 2000 outlets are part of the network – from bakeries to hotel buffets, sushi restaurants to flower shops.

We met Mads Christensen in Copenhagen at the Too Good To Go shop – wait, hold up, a shop?! Well yes, their first shop, because this is not just an app, it’s a movement to change people’s behaviours towards food and waste. A real shop gives Mads and his colleagues the chance to meet the people using their app face-to-face and talk to them.

Mads talks about how easy (and delicious) it is to become a ‘waste warrior’ – you just have to open the app, select the food you want to save today and go pick it up. And just like that you’ll add one more meal to the 11 million that have already been saved, and you have officially joined the movement.

Thank you to Mads Christensen.
